Agra: Following continuous rainfall for 48 hours, damage has been caused to some of the city's most famous historical monuments, including the Taj Mahal. There are reports of hairline cracks in Taj Mahal.

Water leakage from the dome also reached the chamber housing the tombs of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal. A video of the inundated garden has been circulating on social media, sparking concern and curiosity among locals and tourists.

Rajkumar Patel, the superintending chief of the, Agra circle, confirmed the leakage in the Taj Mahal's main dome. He told the news agency that it was caused by seepage but assured that no damage has occurred.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has placed its staff on "surveillance" following reports of water seeping from the main dome of the Taj Mahal, while the adjacent gardens remain flooded.
